joining me now is jackie spear of california. thanks for being with us. what about that vote. it's history in the house. no way that it's going to get through in the house. was this just all another example of one party or the other trying to embarrass the opponents going into an election year? >> this is a real legitimate issue. women still make 77 cents for every dollar earned by a man. if you are doing equal work, you should get equal pay and not be retaliated against. if you look the pay records and the whole issue of small businesses, there is an exemption for businesses with revenues of $500,000 or less. the real issue here, do women count? do we deserve to be treated the same way as men for doing the same job? it's real money. for a woman who is not getting wade the same money as a man doing the same job over the course of her lifetime, that's a loss of $700,000. that's the low side of income. raising families, that's big money. i think that's one of the anti-discrimination issues we have been kicking around for years even though president kennedy was the first to suppo

joining me is john fortt out in california. john, what is the reaction so far from the street to this launch of this ipo? >> well, andrea, i think they got motion sickness. it was up from where it was expected to come out at around $38 for a bit and went down to $38. people said this is horrible. now it's up again above $41 a share which is a pretty good pop for a first day, i think about 7.7% right now. this is volatile and part of the reason why is because so many schaefers are changing hands. people buying and selling more than 3 hundred million at this point, the most active stock on the stock market, more than twice as active as citigroup, about ten times as active as microsoft. so people are really getting into this, andrea. >> what about all the questions that have been raised about the business model and whether this is really going to be what advertisers want, general mothers obviously pulled back. that was one indicator that people were all looking at. >> well, those are important questions. i mean, mark zuckerberg ha

california, new york, illinois, that are not going to see any presidential action except for perhaps as atms when president obama and the gop nominee go out to raise money. but there are about 20 or perhaps even more house contests in those three states that could decide control of the house. then on the senate side places like montana and north dakota with pretty safe rid states where you've got key senate races. what's happening behind the scenes on capitol hill is a lot of republicans are strategizing how to step in and rescue some of these weak state parties and ensure that they keep the house and try to take back the senate. it's one of those stories where all the attention goes to in these white house years the campaign, the white house campaign, but there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes here in terms of the house and the senate. >> i think we just saw a shot of the north dakota contestants. you've got some tough races there where they will make obviously a big difference where the nat is hanging in the balance. >> i mentioned montana, north dakota, i should mention
